Work is being carried out on establishing an independent judiciary for greater protection of rights and freedoms.
In recent years, Morocco has been undertaking institutional reform of its judicial system that has led to important changes, such as the creation of the Public Prosecutor's Office. Within this framework, the Spanish and Moroccan prosecutors are working on creating bilateral working groups on issues of common interest, such as drug smuggling and human trafficking.
With an approximate duration of two years, this twinning project will feature a Spanish prosecutor on the ground. In addition, other specialists from Spanish institutions such as the Ministry of Justice, the General Council of the Judiciary and the Court of Auditors, along with other European institutions such as the Consultative Council of European Judges and the Portuguese Public Prosecutor’s Office will take part.
