In the last fifteen years, the Judicial Branch of the Dominican Republic has undergone important changes, achieving a significant consolidation at the institutional level. During this period, very important advances have been made in almost all aspects of the judicial system. The reforms have contributed to institutional independence, the professionalization of the judiciary, the establishment of a clear and defined regulatory framework and the strengthening of the judiciary.
More recently, the Judiciary Council has promoted a sectoral strategy called "Vision Justice 20 | 24", which responds to the demand from the Dominican society for greater integrity, efficiency and quality in judicial services. This new strategy is aligned with SDG 16 and takes as its starting point the commitment to place planning at the center of efficient and transparent management.
It is in this context that this project arises to accompany the Dominican Judicial Branch in its goal of promoting citizen confidence and satisfaction in judicial services, increasing their efficiency, quality and integrity.
FIIAPP, as leader, in consortium with GIZ (Germany), as junior partner, will lead the first Twinning project in Latin America. Spain and the Dominican Republic maintain close institutional relations in the field of Justice in the framework of Ibero-American regional networks (AIAMP COMJIB, Ibero-American Judicial Summit), on the one hand, and through bilateral links, on the other.
The project team will be composed of Supreme Court Justices, members of the General Council of the Judiciary and officials of the Ministry of Justice.
In line with these objectives, the project's actions will focus on the following components:
1. Integral management model based on quality
2. Improving quality and satisfaction in user services.
3. Strengthening judicial integrity
