Strengthening the competition authority of Albania

This twinning project, funded by the European Union and managed by the FIIAPP, aims to strengthen the capabilities of the Albanian Competition Authority (ACA) in the protection of free and effective competition in the market.

Specifically, this project aims to provide support to the ACA to ensure its mission to protect free and effective competition in the market, based on the current legal framework and in order to build up community knowledge.

Three main areas of action are established:

• Increase ACA's abilities to plan and conduct inspections and resolve competition cases;
• Support the full harmonisation of Albanian legislation with the relevant EU rules in the field of competition law and policy;
• Develop capacity-building actions to prepare adhesion negotiations (particularly Chapter 8. Competition Policy)
