Following the serious cyber attacks suffered between 2022 and 2023 in Costa Rica, this European project implemented by the FIIAPP seeks to strengthen cybersecurity in the country's public institutions. These attacks have had a significant economic impact and have affected essential services, such as medical appointments and payments to civil servants.
The vulnerabilities of the Costa Rican system, resulting from insufficient investment in digital security, lack of specialised personnel and the use of obsolete software, have exposed the country to constant cyber threats, which this project will help to mitigate.
Specifically, it aims to improve preparedness and response to future cyber-attacks through technical strengthening and training in cyber-intelligence. These actions will prevent attacks, identify their perpetrators and protect public information, helping to restore confidence in Costa Rican institutions and strengthen the country's resilience in the digital sphere.
