The Republic of Serbia is applying to join the European Union. To this end, the country is in a negotiation process in which compliance with the principles of the rule of law, fundamental rights, strengthening of democratic institutions and alignment with the acquis communautaire is central.
The objective of this project is to support Serbia in achieving the objectives of Chapter 24 of the EU accession negotiations, focusing on the protection of the rule of law, the fight against organised crime, freezing and confiscation of criminal assets.
The Government of Serbia's Action Plan for Chapter 24 represents Serbia's overall strategic framework for implementing the necessary reforms. It incorporates orientations for improvement in the area of justice, freedom and security, in particular on the fight against organised and serious crime and the introduction of integrated border management.
In addition, the project will work on international cooperation mechanisms, in particular the implementation of the EU cooperation mechanism, border management and the Schengen acquis.
The project is led by the Lithuanian agency CPMA and is also managed by FIIAPP together with DCPC (Central Directorate of Criminal Police, Italy) and CILC (the Netherlands).
