Catherine Ashton, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, was responsible for opening the conference. She affirmed “Societies progress in countries where women progress and in countries where women suffer, the societies in which they live suffer too. This also applies to the Sahel and for this reason we are here today, to listen to women leaders of this region, where international and African efforts are crucial for resolving the crisis”.
This meeting, in which the FIIAPP took part, is part of the European Union project aimed at guaranteeing the stability of the country.
During the meeting, the participants had the opportunity to listen to the women from the Sahel relate their experiences in bringing peace to this part of Africa and recovering it.
