The ANU (AMERIPOL Unit) in Ecuador was inaugurated this month. It is a project that is part of the FIIAPP international cooperation programme known as AMERIPOL. The event was attended by members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Public Prosecutor and the National Police of Ecuador as well as the President of AMERIPOL.
The personnel in this unit were also trained in crime intelligence by European police experts. AMERIPOL is an FIIAPP Project that involves the participation of the Spanish Ministry of Internal Affairs with an aim to improve international cooperation between the police and judicial and public prosecution authorities in the EU and various Latin American countries to more efficiently fight organised crime networks. It is financed by the EU with more than 3,700,000 euros.
