A project working to develop civil aviation in Ukraine is awarded to Spain and the United Kingdom
The European Union has appointed a consortium to carry out a project to support sustainable development and the civil aviation administration system in Ukraine.
The objective is to harmonise the regulatory framework for civil aviation in Ukraine with EU standards, improve the capabilities of air safety supervision and lay the foundations for a safe, efficient and protected air transport system.
The consortium will be formed by the State Aviation Safety Agency (SASA) and the United Kingdom’s National Civil Aviation Authority (UK CAA) and will be managed by the International Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP).
To do this, the technical expertise of the SASA and UK CAA is being brought together, which will be provided by numerous specialists who will carry out different missions in Ukraine, the United Kingdom and Spain.
This consortium will support the Ukrainian State Aviation Administration (USAA) in developing new regulatory frameworks for air operations and flight crew licenses.
In addition, it will provide training and skills development to USA staff to ensure proper understanding and compliance with European standards and it will work with the aviation industry in Ukraine to raise awareness and deepen understanding of EU-based standards and practices.
Funded by the Directorate General for European Neighbourhood Policy and EU Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR), the project is expected to play a key role in facilitating preparations for the implementation of the provisions arising from the Common Air Space Agreement between the EU and Ukraine.
