For one week, key cooperation agencies in Latin America came together to work on triangular cooperation on the continent
During the meeting in Uruguay
The first meeting of the ADELANTE projects took place in Montevideo, the projects facilitate Triangular Cooperation with Europe in Latin America. Since 2016, this has included the EVALÚA, programme, which is funded by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP.
At the end of 2015, the European Commission launched the Regional Facility for International Cooperation and Association (now known as ADELANTE), with the aim of better integrating the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean and supporting them in reaching their development goals, such as economic growth, strengthening democracy and combating climate change.
At a time when some cooperation instruments with developing countries are being redefined, the aim of these events was to understand how the programme operates and see how all the projects belonging to it can cooperate and contribute to its improvement.
During this meeting, practical training sessions were held in which representatives of the projects and key cooperation agencies in Latin America, such as the European Union, SEGIB, AECID and GIZ took part.
In addition, the meeting succeeded in promoting exchanges on topics that have importance when implementing and evaluating the projects. The topics discussed included financial and technical management; strengthening the skills of the players involved in the projects; and systematising the lessons learned in relation to the South-South cooperation instrument.
