The Bridging the Gap project launches different online modules addressing different topics such as human rights, women and disability and inclusive and accessible communication
The Bridging the Gap project on inclusion policies is starting a series of free online seminars aimed at promoting the mainstreaming of disability in International Cooperation.
The aim of this European Union-funded and FIIAPP-managed project is to reduce the social exclusion of people with disabilities in low- and middle-income countries. Specifically in Burkina Faso, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Paraguay and Sudan, where different topics will be addressed.
The training includes twelve 90-minute sessions discussing different aspects of disability and development. The sessions will be held on a monthly basis and they are led and presented by experts in the topics in question. To facilitate access to these training webinars, they will be available at different times and in three languages, Spanish, English and French.
To participate, it is necessary to fill in and send a form through the GotoWebinar platform: http://ow.ly/dIWj30iQBgb. Everyone who registers will receive an email with the link to the webinar the day before the session, along with the materials required for the training.
The first module starts on Monday 19 March at 16:30 hours. It is entitled “Introduction to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities: principles, content and structure”, it will be presented by the director of the World Blind Union, José Viera. During the webinar, participants will learn about the different approaches to disability, the objective of the Convention, its structure and content, as well as the key principles of the human rights approach to disability.
Another 11 modules are planned after this initial session, on different topics: The Sustainable Development Goals and disability, inclusive and accessible communication, inclusive education, women and disability, among others. Anyone completing 70% of the training, will receive an attendance certificate.
