Training of Bolivian public officials within the framework of the project to strengthen the special force against drug trafficking.
Within the framework of strengthening the Special Force Against Drug Trafficking in Bolivia, a workshop was held entitled “Trainer on Detection and Control of Containers”. This workshop trained future instructors and leaders of security and counter-narcotics units on the detection and control of containers at borders. Detection and control of containers constitutes one of the priority avenues of attack and is also a method recommended by international bodies such as the UN and the European Union.
The course attendees, which included nine officials from FELCN, eight from Customs, two from the Public Prosecutor’s Office and one from Unipol, acquired the basic skills necessary for training future agents on the control and detection of containers at borders. In addition to this practical qualification, the participants received training on the personal skills needed for the job, such as leadership, communication, teamwork and responsibility.
In 2017 the project will hold a total of 32 training courses covering different topics, all on the subject of narcotics control and detection, aimed at training officials from Bolivian counter-narcotics agencies, such as the FELCN, National Intelligence Directorate, FELCC, National Customs, Public Prosecutor’s Office, UNIPOL. Six training courses have been held so far this year.
