Vice President Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría chaired the meeting of the Board of Directors of the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP). The meeting served to take stock of the FIIAPP’s work in 2015 and approve last year’s accounts.
It was an exceptional year for FIIAPP, as in 2015 it achieved the highest volume of project implementation (over €40 million) since it started its activities in 1998.
FIIAPP’s international presence expanded in 2015. The Foundation worked in over 100 countries (an all-time high) on international cooperation projects in sectors like security and the fight against organised crime, justice, transparency, social policies and rights, transportation and infrastructure management, green economy, public finance, and mobility and migration.
European Union Twinning programmes, managed in Spain, with projects in such areas as support to fishing policy in Turkey, improvement of air safety in Ukraine, adaptation of taxpayer services in Azerbaijan, and reform of the judicial system in Serbia.
Regional projects in Latin America, such as EUROsociAL (€40 million), aimed at promoting Euro-Latin American dialogue in relation to public policies for social cohesion; and AMERIPOL (€3.8 million), which has worked to improve the international cooperation capacities of police forces, judicial authorities, and prosecutors.
Delegated cooperation projects, such as ‘Exchange of experiences, knowledge and good practices in management of the administration and of public policies between the European Union and Cuba’ (€3.5 million); ‘Support to the rule of law in the Horn of Africa’ (€11 million); and ‘Integrity and Transparency’ in Colombia (€7.5 million).
Similarly, FIIAPP continued its collaboration with the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and the Secretariat-General of International Development Cooperation (SGCID) in the implementation of projects and management of the Spanish cooperation evaluation plan.
The International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP) is an official public-sector foundation that manages international cooperation projects at the service of Public Administrations. It strengthens public systems by improving their structures, reviewing regulatory frameworks and policies, and training civil servants and public-sector managers.
