Cuban specialists visit Spain to learn about the country’s public records with the intention of modernising the Cuban registers
Cuban specialists sharing views with a property registrar in Madrid
The Association of Registrars of Spain is hosting a delegation of Cuban officials from the Ministry of Justice of Cuba (MINJUS) to receive training in real estate and registry matters. The visit, integrated into the Cuba-EU II Experiences Exchange Programme, managed by the FIIAPP and financed by the European Union, includes training in the General Directorate of the Cadastre (Ministry of Finance), the General Directorate of Registries and Notaries (Ministry of Justice) and the Official Association of Administrative Managers of Madrid.
The improvement of the Cuban public records is part of the process of updating the economic and social policy in which the Caribbean country is immersed: for all these reasons, the improvement of the records will transcend the legal field and is fundamental, among other things, for the promotion of foreign investments, guaranteeing legal security to companies with foreign capital interested in settling in Cuba.
The computerisation of Cuban public registers is fundamental for their improvement and the Government of the country has therefore created a work group for their digitalisation. This is made up of specialists from the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Communications and is represented on this study visit to Spain by its coordinator, Francisco Eduardo García Henríquez. The Cuban delegation is completed by experts from the Ministry of Justice, Anabel Castro, Alicia López and Aniuska Puente.
To support Cuba in this modernisation, in June 2015 the collaboration agreement was signed between the Association of Registrars of Spain and the Cuban Ministry of Justice.
