The visit was carried out within the framework of the POC Senegal European cooperation project and served to strengthen ties and reinforce the role of Spain in Senegal
Within the framework of the European project POC Senegal , which works to fight against irregular migration and human trafficking in Senegal, the secretary general of the FIIAPP, Inmaculada Zamora, travelled to Dakar. The visit was made on the occasion of the inauguration of the works of the Senegalese Air and Border Police Directorate (DPAF) building and the delivery of two patrol boats.
During the visit, Ms Zamora held meetings with the director general of the Senegalese National Police and with the director of the DPAF, who highlighted the collaboration between Senegal and the EU in the fight against human trafficking mafias. They also showed concern and interest in fighting terrorism and drug trafficking.
The secretary general also met with the Ambassador of Spain in Senegal and Gambia and with the General Coordinator of Spanish Cooperation in Senegal (OTC-AECID, the Technical Cooperation Office of the Spanish International Development Cooperation Agency) to learn about their work and their priorities, with the aim of seeking synergies and collaboration with the FIIAPP that reinforce the role of Spain in Senegal.
2022 will be an important year for Senegal, which will host the 9th Dakar World Water Forum, organized by ICEX Spain Export and Investment and the World Water Council (WWC). In addition, the country is now assuming the presidency of the African Union, a continental organisation made up of 55 member states, whose objectives are to promote unity and solidarity among its members, coordinate and intensify cooperation for development, safeguard sovereignty and promote international cooperation within the framework of the United Nations (UN).
