The video “Democratic Governance for Social Cohesion” wins the prize in the seventh edition of the Communication Awards. Prize awarded by the Directorate-General for Development and Cooperation (DG DEVCO/EuropeAid) of the European Commission.
Filmed in Honduras and produced by the team from the EUROsociAL Programme and the National Taxpayer Education Programme of Honduras, the video is part of the content created by the EUROsociAL Programme, managed by the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP), and was funded by the European Commission.
The filming included the participation of children from some of the public schools on the outskirts of Tegucigalpa (República de China, Cardenal Oscar Andrés Rodríguez and República de Francia) and La Ceiba, (Ramón Rosa, José Trinidad Cabañas and José Trinidad Reyes). Schools at which students are exposed to a conflictive social environment on a daily basis. Especially in the case of the schools in Tegucigalpa, as gang membership is a phenomenon that tends to start in the school years.
The National Taxpayer Education Programme of Honduras, supported by EUROsociAL, has promoted, in cooperation with the Secretariat of Education, formal implementation of taxpayer education in schools, which have made efforts to implant a taxpaying culture, practices of transparency and citizens’ rights. Since its first phase, EUROsociAL has supported taxpayer education strategies in the Central American country.
