Experts at the eighth CrimEx session
The EuroMed Justice IV project, funded by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP in collaboration with CILC, EIPA and JCI, has held its eighth CrimEx session, gathering experts from eight countries in the southern Mediterranean region together with general prosecutors from the European Union Member States.
In this eighth session, held in Barcelona, the foundations have been laid for the EuroMed General Prosecutor’s Forum and the preparation of its second meeting, to be held in January in The Hague. The management of judicial networks have also been addressed along with the future tasks and functions of CrimEx, including possible solutions to ensure its sustainability and coordination with other networks.
The meeting was attended by members of CrimEx from Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia, representatives from the prosecutor’s offices from some EU Member States as well as members of Eurojust, the European Judicial Network (EJN), the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the Network of General Prosecutors or institutions equivalent to the supreme courts in the European Union Member States (NADAL network).
Finally, participants discussed the update of CrimEx documents with the most recent legislative reforms, the use of CrimEx documents as tools for judicial cooperation and the training of justice professionals, as well as the selection of statistical indicators relevant to judicial cooperation.
CrimEx meetings are promoted by EuroMed Justice and bring together specialists dedicated to Euro-Mediterranean cooperation in the field of criminal justice.
