Finished the twinning project to enhance the institutional and administrative capacities of the Algerian Inspectorate General of Finance
This project has drawn on the experience of Spanish and French specialists who contributed to improving the Algerian Inspectorate General of Finance with the aim of gaining a more focused control over the management and performance of the institution.
During project implementation, the Inspectorate, part of the Algerian Ministry of Finance, has worked together with its Spanish counterpart, the Institute of Fiscal Studies, towards the general objective of enhancing the public finance modernisation programme and increasing efficiency in the use of public funds in Algeria.
This project in support of the Algerian Ministry of Finance, financed by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP, has strengthened the capacities of the Inspectorate, providing specific training to its public employees and elaborating a manual of good practices in evaluation and control.
During the closing ceremony, held at the International Conference Centre in Algiers, the Algerian Finance Minister, Abderrahmane Raouya, emphasized the project’s significant contribution to the implementation of a multi–year programme and to the development of risk maps, thus improving internal control and informing better the institution’s decision-making processes.
At the ceremony, the Algerian, Spanish and European Union authorities highlighted the importance of the achievements made, and the need to preserve and strengthen them.
Experts from several Spanish institutions participated throughout the project: the institutions involved included the Institute of Fiscal Studies, the General Intervention Board of the State Administration, the State Tax Administration Agency and other experts from the General Council of the Judiciary, the Court of Audit and the French Inspectorate General of Finance.
