The European Union twinning project kicks off with funding of €1.3 million
The European Union twinning Project “Support to the Ministry of Taxes of the Republic of Azerbaijan in optimal use of resources and quality service to taxpayers”, the aim of which is to increase the efficiency of the service provided to the country´s taxpayers, has now started.
It is intended to incorporate the main European Union practices in the area of taxation, in order to support the identification and management of the demand for services and the implementation of improved techniques and training. Among these improvements is a desire to speed up the procedures of the taxpayer service, by improving the management tools, optimising resources, reducing fulfilment costs, analysing and reporting on the effectiveness of all the service´s channels (service centres, call centre, web, mobile, social networks and other channels), and to evaluate the use of these channels.
The project is funded by the European Union. It has a total budget of €1,300,000, earmarked for all the training activities that will take place over a period of 27 months, with the Ministry of Taxes of the Republic of Azerbaijan as the main beneficiary.
Spain is heading the project through the State Tax Administration Agency (AEAT), working jointly with France through the General Directorate of Public Finances (DGFiP).
A number of personalities took part in the inauguration to welcome the attendees and detail the results that are expected from the project, as well as to introduce all those involved in managing and coordinating the project. The experiences of France (DGFiP) and Spain (AEAT and FIIAPP) with taxation and managing twinning projects were also emphasised as being an essential added value for achieving the results of the project.
