On 8 October, a conference took place in Turkey to launch the project “Strengthening market supervision for the Information Technology and Communications industry.”
The project’s objective is to improve the operation of the Telecommunications Market (by reducing licences and the numerous mandatory requirements for imported goods), thereby strengthening the safety of Information Technology and Communications products in the country, while ensuring that consumers receive safe products.
Experts from the Secretary of State of Telecommunications and the Information Society will participate in this project over twelve months, conducting a total of 40 activities in Turkey. The President of the Turkish Information and Communications Authority (project beneficiary), the Contracting Authority, the European Commission Delegation and representatives of the Turkish Ministry of Finance attended the launch ceremony. Jorge Sanchez Rodriguez, Economic-Commercial Advisor, representing the Spanish Embassy in Turkey, and Cristobal Guzmán López, Project Manager, represented Spain.
The European Commission has earmarked 750,000 Euros for this project, one which is extremely important as this is an innovative industry.
