The inaugurating event was held for the twinning project funded by the European Union, which will be carried out in Albania for two years
Under the motto ‘Strong cooperation for free and effective competition!’ the Albanian capital, Tirana, hosted the twinning project’s inauguration event (Twinning) on strengthening the capacities of the Competition Authority of Albania funded by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP.
The event was dedicated to the dissemination of ex-ante analysis as a strategic instrument used by the Competition Authorities and the advantages of its follow-up by the public institutions involved in it. In addition, it was used to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Competition Authority of Albania, the beneficiary institution of the project.
Although the official inauguration has only just been held, the project has been active since July of this year and specialists from the National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC) have been working with their Albanian counterparts, with the aim of achieving greater strengthening of the administrative and institutional capacities of the Competition Authority of Albania, in order to ensure its functions of protection of free competition in the markets of that country, based on the current legal framework and the acquis communautaire.
The event, opened by the chairwoman of the Competition Authority of Albania, was attended by senior representatives of the two countries and of the institutions involved in the project. All agreed that the project will contribute to building new bridges between Albania and Spain.
In addition, the significance of the ex-ante analysis through which Competition Authorities can exert a preventive influence on regulatory and market policies was highlighted. Likewise, the ex-ante nature of this intervention facilitates knowledge of Competition policy and the principles of efficient economic regulation at all levels of Public Administration.
