Senegal’s POC continues to promote activities to combat irregular immigration and trafficking in Senegal
Within the framework of the joint operational partnership project (POC in French) to combat irregular immigration, migrant smuggling and human trafficking in Senegal, two French experts from a Paris Judicial Police specialist unit provided training on surveillance and monitoring in which members of the operational units of the National Division for the Fight against Trafficking in Migrants (DNLT) and the Directorate of Judicial Police of Senegal took part.
This training allowed an exchange of experiences between the European Union, who funded the project, and Senegal in the field of identifying and dismantling criminal organisations.
The workshop offered a significant part of the practical training through exercises carried out in the city of Dakar. It also allowed the generation of productive discussions in which both teams demonstrated the considerable scope of their technical knowledge.
Within the framework of the project to combat irregular immigration and trafficking in Senegal, other activities have been carried out recently such as the reprinting and joint delivery of 300 manuals for Judicial Police officers to the National School of Dakar Police together with the SENSEC-UE project in support of the continuous training of this group. The project also participated in a preparatory mission for the creation of a branch of the DNLT in the Senegalese region of Casamance.
All these activities and missions of this cooperation project, led by CIVIPOL and in whose management the FIIAPP participates, seek to continue providing support to Senegal in the fight against criminal networks linked to irregular migration by combating migrant smuggling and human trafficking, the operational support of the police forces and the promotion of regional police cooperation.
