The FIIAPP is managing a transplant project in Moldova with the objective of supporting the country in its efforts to draft legislation and build a service for transplants that will inspire the confidence of citizens.

Within the framework of this project, a transplant team, a neurophysiologist and an intensive care specialist from Hospital Clínic of Barcelona and Hospital Puerta de Hierro of Majadahonda travelled to Chisinau, the Moldovan capital. After familiarizing themselves with the work of their counterparts in the area of organ, tissue and cell transplants, they carried out a transfer of best practices with them to enable the Moldovans to use the Spanish model as a reference.
The project is being led by the Catalonian Transplant Organization (OCATT)jointly with the National Transplant Organization (ONT) and the French Biomedicine Agency. The European Union is financing it with 1,200,000 euros.
Currently more than 700 people need an organ transplant in Moldova. The challenge is to draft legislation and build a transplant service under European standards that inspires confidence on the part of Moldovans and encourages them to donate.
