Two specialists from the Ministry of Justice have worked with the Dominican Judiciary to support the creation of a digital platform to improve the quality of justice in the Dominican Republic
“Under this plan, the Dominican judiciary is working, at the request of Dominican citizens, to reinforce the integrity, efficiency and quality of judicial services. Through a European programme that brings together Spanish and Dominican justice institutions, the FIIAPP accompanies the Dominican Republic in this objective.
As part of this programme, the FIIAPP has mobilised two specialists from the Ministry of Justice to work and exchange knowledge with the Dominican judiciary.
The approaches and advances in digitisation of the Ministry of Justice’s digital legal security specialists have been enthusiastically welcomed by the Dominican judiciary.
The experts were able to contribute their knowledge of digital legal security, which will allow for faster progress in the creation of a digital platform that will improve the quality of justice in the Dominican Republic.
The President of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Dominican Republic himself has had the opportunity to share with the specialists his vision of the horizon that the Dominican Republic needs in order to have a higher quality, more prompt and closer justice system. In order to achieve this objective, ICTs are an essential tool on which the Dominican team is working.
Among their Dominican counterparts, the experts, Pablo Carrasco, head of Judicial Project Management at the Spanish Ministry of Justice, and Antonio Manuel Paredes, programmer at the Ministry of Justice and systems analyst, shared identification and electronic signature techniques in telematic hearings and other remote procedural actions. They also analysed biometric techniques, techniques for safeguarding the authenticity and integrity of documents, files or digital evidence.
During the activity, a comparison of different BlockChain systems was also carried out and an overview of the current biometric systems was made, assessing the most and least secure ones.
It is also worth highlighting the tour of the artificial intelligence scenarios that are being addressed in the Ministry of Justice: roadmap, technologies and purposes, with practical demonstrations. Finally, the implementation of the document management system was addressed, both from the point of view of development and infrastructure.
