The FIIAPP organizes a visit by Moldovan experts to the Catalonian Transplant Organization (OCATT). Spanish professionals are showing them the Catalonian healthcare model.

As part of the “Strengthening the Transplant Agency of the Republic of Moldova” being managed by the FIIAPP with the collaboration of the OCATT, a study visit took place in Barcelona from 27th to 31st October for the purpose of showing the Moldovan experts the Catalonian healthcare, organ donation and transplant model.
This activity is the follow-up to a visit in September to Chisinau, Moldova by experts from the French Biomedicine Agency (ABM) and the Catalonian Transplant Organization (OCATT), who went there to learn about the quality system of the Moldovan Agency, its information system, and authorization and inspection procedures. Based on the needs detected in that visit, the agenda for this week’s study visit was planned with the Director of the Moldovan Transplant Agency.
For five days, the professionals from the Moldovan Transplant Agency and the Deputy Minister of Health, who accompanied the experts, were able to learn the specifics of Spanish regulations in the area of organ, tissue and cell donation and transplants, and how these activities are registered to enable analysis.
Another objectiveof the visit was to explain how OCATT’s Organ Exchange Unit (UCIO) and the Bone Marrow Donor Register (REDMO) work.
Over the course of the week, the Moldovan delegation was able to learn about the Tissue Bank of Catalonia, the Cord Blood Bank, the Human Milk Bank and the Biobank, an organization that collects biological samples for analysis, of the Blood and Tissue Bank. They also visited two hospitals to learn about two models of hospital coordination.
In their visit to the Catalonian Department of Health, they had the opportunity to see the authorization and inspection system in the area of organ, tissue and cell donation and transplants in action, as well as the financing system for healthcare in Catalonia. The Deputy Minister, Dr. Mihail Ciocanu, was able to compare and contrast it to the Moldovan health model with the Catalonian Minister of Health, Dr. Boi Ruiz.
