The SEACOP project has promoted and coordinated two training courses on intelligence and maritime control in Argentina

Within the framework of the SEACOP project, specialists in the fight against maritime trafficking from the National Police and the Civil Guard gave a five-day training course in maritime intelligence in Buenos Aires (Argentina).
Inspiration for this course came from the interest of Argentine Customs and the country’s Federal Police force in working together with the Naval Prefecture as members of the same Maritime Intelligence Unit (MIU).
Simliarly, a second training course, in this case on maritime control, was held in Buenos Aires, which was also given by specialists from the Spanish Law Enforcement Forces. This training aims to establish a permanent Joint Maritime Control Unit (JMCU) in Argentina.
SEACOP is a cooperation project in seaports, financed by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP that supports the fight against maritime trafficking and international criminal networks; it serves, therefore, to strengthen cooperation against maritime trafficking throughout the transatlantic cocaine route (Western and Southern Africa, as well as Latin America and the Caribbean).
The project, which is part of the European Cocaine Route Programme, and now in its fourth phase, provides specialised training in sea craft inspection and the exchange of intelligence to combat illicit maritime traffic.
