After more than two years of work, the Morocco–Spain twinning project to bring Morocco's transport regulations closer to that of the European Union comes to an end

FIIAPP managed this European Union-funded Twinning project designed to improve the carriage of dangerous goods by road. The project, which lasted 30 months, helped bring Moroccan legislation in line with international standards (ADR) and the community acquis.
To achieve this goal, the Spanish Ministry of Transport (MITMA) provided the Moroccan Ministry of Transport with a team of specialists with experience in the carriage of dangerous goods to present the best practices in Spain and other the EU countries.
The project closed with a ceremony attended by the Moroccan Minister for Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water; the ambassadors of the European Union and Spain in Morocco, and the director of FIIAPP. The MITMA Secretary General for Transport and Mobility and senior Moroccan and Spanish officials were also in attendance.
During his speech, the minister emphasised Morocco’s initial interest in this cooperation tool to help transpose the ADR provisions into its national regulations, and said that the tool has been very useful due to the complexity of the subject matter to be regulated and the number of stakeholders involved, taking into account the Moroccan context and adopting the principle of progressivity to support its private sector in this change.
