The objective is to contribute to the sustainable development of Paraguay by promoting and accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Agenda in the country
For three days, Paraguayan specialists participated in the training workshop “The SDGs from the perspective of Paraguay: basic conceptual, methodological and contextual notions” in Asunción. The activity is part of the European programme to support the implementation of the 2030 Agenda in Paraguay.
This workshop has been held to respond to the demand of Paraguayan public institutions to be trained on basic notions in relation to the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), but also to initiate the co-design of a continuous training programme linked to the monitoring and implementation of the SDGs in Paraguay.
Led by Diego Santillán, expert of the Environment Area of the Provincial Council of Burgos and member of the working group on Agenda 2030 of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), participants were able to learn in depth about the principles and basic concepts linked to Agenda 2030 and the SDGs, as well as their challenges and challenges.
In addition, attendees had the opportunity to exchange experiences and learning among public officials and civil society representatives on the challenges and good practices developed so far in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda in Paraguay. Through these trainings, in which the practical applications of the SDGs are explained, “we have managed to improve the management and planning capacities of the Public Administration in the framework of the 2030 Agenda”, acknowledged Santillán.
Likewise, the Director of Planning of the Ministry of Women’s Affairs of Paraguay, Rossanna Delgado, defended that “it is essential to offer the necessary tools and knowledge to public servants”, and expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to “allow us public servants to share spaces to exchange experiences in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda”.
The workshop was attended by representatives of various Paraguayan institutions, including the SDG Commission, the Ministry of Women, MADES, INE and the Ministry of Labour, among others.
