The Latin American and Caribbean Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions approves recommendations for improving coordination in the fight against corruption.
The 24th General Assembly of the Latin American and Caribbean Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (OLACEFS) took place in Cuzco (Peru). The event, held from 24th to 28th November, was opened by the President of the Republic, Ollanta Humala, and brought together representatives of the Supreme Audit Institutions (EFS) from the 22 OLACEFS member countries.
The principles and recommendations were promoted by the EUROsociAL programmethrough a working group made up of the different regional and Ibero-American networks of key institutions in the fight against corruption.
In the framework of this meeting, FIIAPP Director, Pedro Flores, along with the EUROsociAL advisor for the Justice theme, José de la Mata, presented the proposal for “Principles and Recommendations for improving inter-agency coordination in the fight against corruption linked to economic and financial crimes”.
The proposal is the result of the work of the Inter-Agency Working Group comprised of representatives of the key regional and Ibero-American networks in the fight against corruption, promoted by the EUROsociAL programme, which includes OLACEFS, the Conference of Ministers of Justice of Ibero-American Countries (COMJIB), the Ibero-American Association of Public Ministries (AIAMP), the Inter-American Centre for Tax Administrations (CIAT) and the Ibero-American Judicial Summit (CJI) (watch a video on the initiative). The aim is to give the over 100 government agencies that comprise these networks practical recommendations for strengthening prevention, detection, investigation, prosecution and punishment, and recovery of the assets produced by the crime, while also promoting greater international cooperation.
This working line of EUROsociAL, a European Commission cooperation programme, is being coordinated by the FIIAPP, with the COMJIB as an operational partner. It is part of the action on transparency and the fight against corruption.
