The project for the application of the Rule of Law works with the EAPCCO to improve the response to terrorist threats in the region
The East African Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization ( EAPCCO ) is the benchmark institution regarding the security challenges that threaten the countries in the Horn of Africa. Founded in 1998, this regional cooperation organization is currently supported by 14 countries.
On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, the FIIAPP participated in the conference of the organization in Khartoum, within the project for the application of the Rule of Law that in the region manages the funding of the European Union, through the Instrument contributing to Stability and Peace (IcSP).
A project that seeks to improve the skills, capabilities and cooperation between actors that fight terrorism and, specifically, between the security forces. The authorities of the EAPCCO have recognized the importance of this project.
The FIIAPP has had the opportunity to present its activities, the work focus and its contribution in the last 2 years to the common objective of improving the police and judicial response to terrorist threats, including measures to improve international judicial cooperation through mutual legal assistance.
The message conveyed by the project is clear and simple: to promote cooperation at all levels and to make legal frameworks as compatible as possible. Therefore, it also seeks to guarantee the participation of the Yemeni security forces, despite the current situation of conflict.
Taking advantage of the meeting, the project coordinator met with the Military Attaché of Yemen in Sudan, who conveyed that the country is not only ready to participate in EU activities, but that it also has the intention of having its officials participate in the project.
