The Angolan Social Support Fund (FAS), since January of last year, has been managing, along with the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP), the European Union-financed project entitled “Support to the local development program through the social action fund” and working on various social actions in different municipalities in the country.
The European Union representative in Angola, Susan Martins, along with the FIIAPP representative, Nuria Garriga, last week visited the municipalities of Caluquembe and Cacula in the province of Huíla. The purpose of the visit was mainly to see how they are using the financial resources received from the European Union in order to ensure compliance of the project with the objectives set.
Angola has 18 provinces which, in turn, are subdivided into a total of 162 municipalities that each have a document containing key information, including the history, and the political, social and economic situation of the community. This document is called a “Dynamic Profile” because it is continuously updated.
In the province of Huíla alone there are 14 municipalities, and this activity served to present the Municipal Administrators and the Technical Units of the municipalities of Caluquembe and Cacula and their Dynamic Profiles. The goal was to learn the current situation of each of the municipalities, assess the degree of execution of the projects and the materials used, and to exchange impressions.
In addition, the specialists visited the construction sites where the work is being done in both municipalities: a four-room school and the houses for the teachers, which are being built near the school.
To conclude the activity, the EU and FIIAPP representatives visited other infrastructures in the Vihamba neighbourhood in the municipality of Cacula: a four-room school and teacher housing with the same characteristics as in the municipality of Caluquembe.
