Six CELAC countries present the achievements of the COPOLAD Programme during the 61st UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs

The Cooperation Programme between Latin America, the Caribbean and the European Union on Drug Policies (COPOLAD) organised the event, as a way for the European Union to support South-South cooperation, during the 61st Sessions of the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs.
Six countries from the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) presented their progress in establishing early warning systems and alternative development strategies within this European Union-funded and FIIAPP-managed programme.
In line with these objectives, COPOLAD is working to facilitate these responses, both in detecting new threats related to drug use and in relation to the integral alternative development strategies being promoted in Latin America and the Caribbean. Therefore, these success stories have been shown along with the way that some examples of South-South cooperation are being successfully implemented among the countries in the region.
The event, which is held each year in Vienna, this year seeks to understand the scope of emerging global trends and offer answers to outstanding challenges.
The COPOLAD event was chaired by the Spanish Government Delegation for the National Drug Plan and attended by the Colombian Ministry of Justice and Law, the Ministry of National Security from Trinidad and Tobago, the Jamaican National Council on Drug Abuse, the National Commission for Development and Life without Drugs (DEVIDA) from Peru, the Bolivian National Council for Combating Illicit Drug Trafficking (CONALTID), the Executive Secretariat of the Commission against Drug Addiction and Illicit Trafficking (SECCATID) from Guatemala.
