The first in a series of guides created to support the interaction of Morocco with UN human rights mechanisms was presented.
The Moroccan Government Delegate and the European Union Ambassador at the presentation of the guide.
On 23rd September, the presentation of the first event for “Guide to preparing national reports and dialogues with human rights treaty bodies” was celebrated in Rabat, which aims to facilitate participation and interaction between the different human rights agents in Morocco.
The guide was prepared by the Interministerial Delegation for Human Rights (DIDH) in collaboration with the Centre for Political and Constitutional Studies (Spain), the National Consultative Commission on Human Rights (France) and the Ludwig Boltzmann Human Rights Institute (Austria).
This is the first in a series of guides soon to be published as part of the Twinning project funded by the European Commission and managed by FIIAPP and aimed at upholding the human rights of Moroccan citizens. The two-year project seeks to strengthen the dialogue, cooperation and interaction of Morocco with European institutions in the area of human rights.
The guide is intended to explain the DIDH’s approach to preparing national reports to the different managers, ministerial department heads and other authorities involved in the preparation of reports to United Nations treaty bodies, civil society, students, researchers in the field and DIDH officials. It consists of three parts: the first covering the legal and institutional aspects; the second on methodology and the drafting of reports; and the third with a series of instructions for the presentation of reports and the follow-up of recommendations.
