From 23rd to 27th February, there will be an exchange visit by a delegation from Peru's Ministry of Health to Colombia to learn about its health equity monitoring system.
Since 2013, the Peruvian government has been implementing a healthcare reform that seeks to make social protection universal and improve social determinants that impact health. Within the framework of EUROsociAL, the European Union’s cooperation programme, an institutional partnership was established between Peru and Colombia, which, based on Colombia’s successful experience in setting up an Observatory for Measuring Inequalities and Analysis of Equity in Health (ODES), aims to strengthen the health equity monitoring system in Peru.
In the course of the visit, they will explore in depth the characteristics of Colombia’s Integrated Information System for Social Protection (SISPRO), review the experience of the ODES and exchange methods and techniques for developing a knowledge management system as the basis for taking informed decisions based on scientific evidence.
The Peruvian delegation, made up of representatives from PARSALUD II (Healthcare Reform Support Programme), the Office of Statistics and the Executive Directorate of Intelligence and Epidemiology of Peru’s Ministry of Health, will also participate in the event organized by the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana on the influence of social determinants on health policies.
