EUROsociAL+ brought together various Latin American and European countries to share experiences on gender equality
The event, which was organised by Expertise France, is part of the activities of the programme for social cohesion in Latin America, EUROsociAL+, a project financed by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP.
It is the first regional working meeting on national gender equality plans and it has made space available for the exchange of experiences on equality and gender equity plans and policies, trying to identify synergies with other initiatives and spaces for inter-sectoral work.
During the two-day meeting, the national gender equality plans of all the participating countries were presented, the achievements and difficulties in each country were analysed and group work workshops were held to address all the stages in the process. It was attended by the congregated institutions, representatives from civil society and international specialists.
Representatives from EUROsociAL+ highlighted the event’s intention to continue trying to create a working network to exchange good practice and challenges.
The event coincided with the approval by the Peruvian Government of its National Gender Equality Policy, which has been supported by EUROsociAL+.
The sessions were opened by the Deputy Minister for Women and Vulnerable Populations, Cecilia Aldave Ruiz, and Stefaan Pauwels, Head of Cooperation with the European Union Delegation to Peru.
