A Peruvian delegation visited Spain to find out about the training systems implemented by the National Police and Civil Guard
As part of the project ‘Support from EU Law Enforcement Forces in the Fight Against Drugs and Organised Crime in Peru’, which is funded by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP, a study visit was made to the National Police and Civil Guard Schools.
The objective being for the attendees to understand, study and evaluate the training systems of both police forces, they visited induction, training, retraining and in-service training schools to learn about aspects of their curriculum and infrastructure that are relevant to the project.
The delegation also visited the National Police School in Ávila and the Training and In-Service Training Division in Madrid. They also learned about the training of the Civil Guard in the Officers Academy at Aranjuez, the Young Guards College in Valdemoro as well as its In-Service Training Centre.
At all these schools they were able to analyse and study the curricula, methods, conditions, effectiveness and impact on performance in selection processes for access to the different levels of the National Police and Civil Guard Forces. In addition, the visitors learned about the curricula for newly recruited officials in both forces, internal promotion programmes for members of the police forces, ongoing training programmes and the selection, training and functions of the teaching staff at the centres.
