The FIIAPP collaborates in the presentation of the Guatemalan pilot project “Inter-agency strengthening for orderly and safe labour migration”.

On 29th October, the Guatemala Ministry of Foreign Relations hosted the event to present the Guatemala Pilot Projectand describe the achievements to date and the next steps.
Civil servants from the Guatemalan Ministry of Foreign Relations and Ministry of Labour and Social Security, as well as the experts involved in implementing this Pilot Project, representatives of civil society and the FIIAPP, participated in this activity and collaborated in the presentation of some of the project’s achievements, such as: the diagnosis and design of the operational structure in the departments of the main institutions involved in migration and employment (MINEX-MINTRAB), and the creation of an action protocol for labour migration between the Ministry of Foreign Relations and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security.
The opening of the workshop included the presence of the Spanish Ambassador to Guatemala, Manuel María Lejarreta Lobo; the representative of the EU delegation, Tanttari Liisa; the IOM representative, Walter Arreaga, the FIIAPP representative, Federico Suárez and the Deputy Ministers of Social Security and Employment, Carlos Doménico Ulban López, and Foreign Relations, Oscar Adolfo Padilla Lam.
They also detailed some of the objectives to be met in coming months, such as development of a computer system that will make it possible to administer and improve the operational link between migration and employment.
This workshop is part of the “Strengthening dialogue and cooperation between the EU and LAC to establish management models on migration and development policies” project, which is being financed by the EU and implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in close coordination with its partner, the FIIAPP.
