Macedonian representatives meet with the specialists of a twinning project to boost the quality of the postal service
The figures of the main institutions of the postal sector of the Republic of North Macedonia have met with figures from the Spanish Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Affairs and the Postal Agency in the framework of the twinning project ‘Strengthening the capacity of the Postal Agency of Northern Macedonia’.
In the meeting, key issues such as the liberalisation of the postal market, the allocation of costs by the national operator and investment in the postal sector were discussed. Furthermore, lines of debate were addressed, such as the goals and progress of the twinning project financed by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP.
During the meeting, the project leader highlighted the need to work for the total liberalisation of the postal market. A legislative change, which has been on the table since the plan, requires political will, especially by members of parliament, who are crucial to the decision-making process.
The President of the Commission, Liljana Zaturovska and the members of the Commission, as well as other relevant personalities, were present at the meeting with the Committee on Transport, Communications and Environment of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia.
For its part, the Postal Agency stressed that cooperation and information exchange between all institutions that are linked to the postal field, supported by the benefits of the project, will contribute to the successful achievement of the planned objectives.
The main objective of this twinning is to improve the quality of postal services and provide training for employees of North Macedonia’s Postal Agency. To achieve it, the project enjoys collaboration between the Postal Agency, the delegation of the European Union, the Ministry of Development of Spain and FIIAPP.
