The programme to promote the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs in Paraguay was presented at an online event involving experts and government representatives
The 2030 Agenda in Paraguay Implementation and Support Programme, which is funded by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP, responds to the need to promote and accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda by achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) as a roadmap for sustainable development in Paraguay. While the programme encompasses the 17 SDGs that make up the 2030 Agenda, it focuses primarily on Goals 5 (gender equality), 13 (climate action), 15 (life on land), and 17 (partnerships for the goals).
To present the programme, an online event has been organised in which the important work carried out in Paraguay to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) has been put into a broader context. The webinar was attended by more than 240 people including specialists in building indicators and monitoring systems, environment, gender equality and public policies along with representatives from governments in Spain, Mexico, Uruguay, Chile and Panama.
In her speech, Inma Zamora, the FIIAPP Secretary General, highlighted the importance of the SDGs as a joint challenge for all countries: “Progress towards them had already required a collective commitment and a significant effort before COVID-19 arrived. Now we face an even greater challenge. However, I want to acknowledge and congratulate Paraguay’s commitment to the 2030 Agenda”.
The webinar has been a space to learn and share knowledge with the aim of continuing to advance sustainable development in Paraguay. Four roundtable meetings have been held to exchange experiences focusing on institutions, monitoring, the environment and gender equality.
