Kick-off in Algiers of the new project in the area of civil protection, managed by FIIAPP.
In Algiers, the capital of Algeria, a new European Union Twinning project was kicked-off for strengthening the capacities of the civil protection services in the country.
The activities included in this international cooperation project in Algeria are aimed at improving risk prevention and promoting a culture of managing possible humanitarian and environmental crises. These activities also seek to collect information on the current situation of Algeria in this area, with a view to comparing it to current EU legislation on the subject.
The Deputy Secretary of Spain’s Ministry of the Interior, Luis Aguilera, spoke at the kick-off event, highlighting the importance of these types of projects as they “allow us to collaborate with our southern neighbours in areas as sensitive for the population as civil protection”.
Along these lines, he emphasised that the “detailed work programme drawn up jointly with the directorates with authority over civil protection, along with the high level of training and experience of the technical team in charge of implementing it, guarantee the success of a project that demonstrates the magnificent relations between the two countries”.
