Spain will work in Mali to help stabilise the country and support women

The FIIAP)will manage a new international cooperation project in Mali.
It is a European Union initiative, the objective of which is to ensure the stability of the country and work will be done in four specific areas: Justice and Security, Reconciliation and Mediation, Reforming the Central Administration and Stabilising the Situation.
To do so, Spain will send judges, members of the State Security Forces, public prosecutors and mediators to Mali who will be responsible for training the Mali authorities and administration.
The first activity in the project will take place in Brussels on 9 April. A High-Level Conference on women is planned with the participation of 37 African women from 10 different countries. This event will feature the presence of the Unions highest representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Catherine Ashton, and the special United Nations envoy to the Sahel, Romano Prodi.
The European Union is financing this project with a million euros through the EUNIDAnetwork.
This new project is in addition to the one already being developed by the FIIAPP in the Sahel to fight terrorism. It is an EU project with a budget of 6.4 million euros. The objective of this project isto train security forces in the Sahel to effectively fight terrorism
