Competition and Regulation, the keys to these training sessions of the Twinning project to improve Albanian Competition
The National Commission on Markets and Competition (CNMC), the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda and the General Secretariat of the Treasury and International Finance have held training sessions at the headquarters of the Albanian Competition Authority (ACA) in the framework Twinning of the ‘strengthening the capacities of the Albanian Competition Authority‘ project managed by the FIIAPP.
Members of the ACA and other Albanian public administrations with a key role in economic regulation policies such as the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy attended the sessions.
The main purpose of the event was to present the main problems underlying the relationship between competition and regulation. To do this, aspects related to improving relations between different regulatory agencies of different economic sectors of the country were addressed to better deal with competition issues derived from their regulatory functions.
More specifically, these sessions have provided participants with a complete and comprehensive overview of all regulatory issues (whether or not linked to competition) and the manner in which regulatory bodies address competition-related matters. They also analysed principles of efficient economic regulation and its implementation in the regulatory framework.
With its motto “Developing solid cooperation for free and effective competition“, the Twinning project financed by the European Union and manage by the FIIAPP, aims to further strengthen the administrative and institutional capacities of Albania’s competition authority to ensure the fulfilment of its duties to protect free competition in the country’s markets, based on the current legal framework and the acquis communautaire.
