It marked the beginning of the cooperation project to adapt Moroccan legislation to international regulations in the area of the transport of hazardous goods
As part of the association between the Kingdom of Morocco and the European Union, today in Rabat a project to “ensure the transport of hazardous goods by road bearing in mind the international regulatory framework, the ADR” was launched. The aim of the project is to improve the safety of this type of transport and strengthen the structures and activities related with it.
This twinning project also hopes to adapt Morocco’s regulations for the transport of hazardous goods to fit the European regulations. In particular, the European agreement on the international carriage of dangerous goods by road (ADR), which Morocco joined in 2011 and which establishes rules for transport, packaging, loading, unloading and storage.
The FIIAPP has been managing this European Commission funded project for two years. Morocco will receive expert advice from the Spanish Ministry of Development, which will work with its counterparts in the Moroccan Ministry of Transport to pass on European good practices, not only from Spain but also from other EU countries. The action will be supplemented by a series of study visits to the Spanish bodies working in this area.
The launch ceremony was chaired by the Moroccan Secretary of State for Transport and was attended by the head of the European delegation and the Spanish ambassador.
