The fourth study visit of the twinning project has been carried out in Mérida and Madrid
Study visit
Several members of the Moroccan Ministry of Transport, the Gerdarmerie Royale and the DGSN (Moroccan Police), along with the project coordinator and interpreter, have participated in the Moroccan delegation’s fourth study visit to Spain.
The visit was carried out within the framework of the Jumelage project: “Ensuring the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road in Morocco, Based on the ADR International Regulatory Framework”, which is led by Spain through the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda.
The general objective of the twinning project is to improve the safety of transport and to strengthen structures and activities related to the transport of dangerous goods by road, through accompaniment, as well as the implementation of the provisions of Law 30-05, in accordance with the ADR (EU-UN), and the requirements of good European practices.
During this study visit, attendees participated in a dangerous goods transport inspection in Torremejía. The delegation, together with Guardia Civil Traffic agents and the transport inspection services with the Extremadura regional government, organised a field visit to learn first-hand how inspections are undertaken.
During its stay in Spain, the delegation had the opportunity to visit the Guardia Civil Traffic Academy in Mérida and take part in real inspections to reinforce the technical knowledge they had received from the Spanish specialists participating in the project.
In addition to Mérida, the participants travelled to Madrid to visit Madrid-Abroñigal Station, a railway logistics terminal devoted to freight traffic.
Finally, they concluded their trip at the Spanish railway network’s management centre, known as H/24, in the Spanish capital.
The main purpose of the study visit was to strengthen the capacity of all the public agents involved in the road transport of dangerous goods in order to familiarise them with the Spanish experience in applying the European Agreement for the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road, ADR.
