The project to Support the Tax Administration of this country has enabled the adoption of EU standards in this Institution’s operation
Podgorica hosted the closing ceremony of the twinning project Support to the Tax Administration of Montenegro . The event presented the results achieved in these two years of work that have enabled the Tax Administration of this country to adopt and integrate European standards in their operations, improve the quality of the services provided to their taxpayers, and raise State tax income.
This project, financed by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP, has improved the capabilities of the Montenegrin Tax Administration through the revision of its 2019-2022 Strategy. In this context, officials from various departments including tax collection, human resources, strategy, internal auditing and tax inspection have been trained.
Likewise, the results also include proposals to modify the Montenegrin legislation and towards the development of a computerized system for interconnectivity and interoperability, derived from the analysis business processes of the existing computer systems
Over the last 18 months, experts from the Spanish Tax Agency made more than 75 visits to the Tax Administration of Montenegro, where they provided training, workshops, seminars and work meetings. In addition, Montenegrin specialists were present in Spain on three occasions, visits in which they learned how our Tax Administration works first-hand.
The Minister of Finance of Montenegro, Darko Radunovic, was present at the event, along with the director of the Tax Administration of Montenegro, Miomir Mugosa, and the Head of the European Union Delegation in Montenegro, Aivo Orav, among other prominent people.
At the closing conference, the director of the Spanish Tax Agency, Jesús Gascón Catalán, celebrated the close and fruitful cooperation between the Tax Administration of Montenegro and the Spanish Tax Agency, expressing his interest in continuing to work closely to strengthen the capabilities of the Montenegrin Administration.
