The first meeting for the project: “Support for the Third Phase of the Rabat Process: The Dakar Strategy” will take place on 21 February in Brussels.
The objective of this Project is to accompany European and African countries that are part of the”Rabat Process”in order to carry out the Dakar Strategy which was approved in November 2011.
Several specific initiatives for dialogue between Africa and Europe have been carried out since 2006. They were kicked off in Rabat with a Euro-African Ministerial Meeting (Rabat Process) on Migration and Development with the participation of 27 EU countries and 27 African countries. The meeting led to a plan aimed at facilitating legal migration, fighting irregular migration and fostering migration and development.
In order for the project to have an impact and achieve its objectives, it is essential to understand the priorities of the African partners in order to provide support in that direction.
The FIIAPP has been supporting institutional reinforcement in the different “Rabat Process” countries since 2007 through projects financed by the EU. Our experience will no doubt help us finalise the project once again successfully.
The project will last 30 months in collaboration with ICMPD (International Centre for Migration Policy Development). The FIIAPP will manage 1,000,000 euros out of the 2,000,000 provided by the EU to manage the project.
