The EUROsociAL programme of the European Commission promotes the exchange visit by members of the General Administration of Communications and Information Technologies of the SAT (Mexico) to the HMRC in the United Kingdom.
In this first exchange visit with Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC), the SAT explained its current status and work plan in the area of information and communications technology (ICT), as well as its digital strategy: use of cloud technologies, mobile platforms and big data.
The warm welcome of the HMRC facilitated an open dialogue that led to a satisfying discussion on both sides. The experiences of the HMRC can be applied to Mexico thanks to the great similarities between the agencies, which notably include their schemes for implementing strategic initiatives in which contributors and third parties interested in the definition of policies and implementation of solutions, strategies for building technical skills in the HMRC and specific projects, such as risk management and the adoption of agile methodologies, become participants.
This activity is part of the “Promotion of voluntary compliance with tax obligations” action of the Public Finance area of the EUROsociAL Programme, which is managed by the FIIAPP.
The participants from the Tax Administration Service (SAT) were: Juan Manuel Galarza y Mercado, General Administrator of Information and Communications Technology, and Daniel Gómez Alba, Central Administrator of Application Development and Maintenance. On the part of Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) the following people participated: Brigid McBride, Head of Digital Service, and the project managers of the most important projects and operations.
