Latin American judicial representatives have visited different European and Spanish judicial bodies, as well as FIIAPP
The event was organised jointly by the EL PAcCTO programme, which is financed by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP and Expertise France in conjunction with its partners, IILA and the Instituto Camões. During the study tour, judicial representatives from Argentina, Brazil and Chile visited the General Council of the Judiciary and the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Spain, and EUROPOL and EUROJUST in The Hague.
In Spain, they were welcomed to FIIAPP by its director, Pedro Flores. The Prosecutor for International Cooperation, Rosana Morán, then described to the Ibero-American delegation the functioning of the Spanish Prosecutor’s Office in relation to international assistance.
In addition, they attended the General Council of the Judiciary, where Antonio Roma, coordinator of the Penitentiary Systems component of the EL PAcCTO Programme, gave a presentation on the principle of mutual recognition in criminal cooperation in the European Union, in relation to seizures and confiscations.
Finally, the delegation visited the headquarters and operations of EUROPOL and EUROJUST in The Hague and received training on the European Union’s model of judicial cooperation.
The participants included the Brazilian Minister of Justice, Torquato Jardim, and the Attorneys General of Argentina and Brazil, Eduardo Casal and Raquel Dodge, as well as the National Prosecutor of Chile, Jorge Abbott.
