EUROsociAL+ has held a workshop in Guatemala with the aim of designing public policies that address equality gaps
Inaugural round table at the workshop held in Guatemala
The EUROsociAL+ programme, which is funded by European Union and managed by FIIAPP, has developed a workshop at the Training Centre for Spanish Cooperation in Antigua (Guatemala), which included Civil Society participants from Latin America and Europe. The main purpose of the meeting was to support the development, in a more inclusive way, of the cooperation agenda between both regions and the many public policies that address inequality gaps.
The workshop was attended by fifty representatives from civil society from Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, who have conveyed the need for civil society throughout the public policy cycle, and not only in implementation; the recommendation to incorporate innovative methodologies ranging from collaboration, territoriality and new leadership; and the possibility of incorporating emerging media by making public policies aimed at improving social cohesion visible.
EVALÚA and Bridging the Gap projects, also managed by FIIAPP,have also participated in this activity.
This initiative is aligned with goal 17.17 of the Sustainable Development Goals, which promotes ‘the establishment of effective alliances in the public, public-private and civil society spheres’, opening spaces for dialogue between different non-institutional actors.
