FIIAPP will manage this project, funded by the European Commission, aimed at updating the Turkish Customs Code to harmonise it with European laws.

The overall objective of this project is modernisation of customs legislation to bring it into line with the standards of the European Union for appropriate and effective implementation of the Union Customs Code. In addition, the project aims to improve the execution capacity of the Turkish Customs Administration.
During the six-month duration of the project, experts from Spain’s tax agency will train their Turkish counterparts on subjects such as the recovery and repayment of customs duties, the remission of customs duties, and the preparation of manuals and informational leaflets.
The kick-off ceremony, led by the Turkish Minister of Customs and Trade, Cenap Aşcı, and the Spanish Ambassador to Turkey, Rafael Mendívil, was attended by representatives of the Spanish tax agency and senior Turkish representatives of the European Union, the Ministry of Customs and Trade, and the Ministry of Finance.
The project will have a budget of €198,800 and will be implemented jointly between Turkey’s Directorate-General of Customs and Trade and the Spanish Tax Administration Agency (AEAT).
