Bridging the Gap has developed a campaign in the Sudan to prevent COVID19 without leaving the disabled behind
As a result of the extraordinary situation caused by COVID19, prevention and containment measures have been installed worldwide to stop the spread of the virus. As far as this situation is concerned, the Bridging the Gap project has launched an awareness campaign in Sudan to heighten awareness about the need for these measures to be inclusive regarding people with disabilities and that they do not leave anyone behind.
Bridging the Gap is a project that aims to reduce the social exclusion of people with disabilities in low- and middle-income countries in Africa and Latin America, funded by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP.
The campaign has been developed within the framework of the European project and produced by Sudan Story Lab under the coordination of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and comprises six radio programmes, six video clips and 11 advertisements aimed at highlighting the international prevention recommendations suggested by the World Health Organization (WHO).
The content of the campaign has been broadcast on the most popular radio stations in the country such as Radio Al-Muhin (FM 106.60), Radio Al-Tibbiyyah (FM 99.30), Radio Capital. (FM 91.60), Radio Hala (FM 96), Radio Darfur (FM 90.30) and Radio Youth & Sport (FM 90.00). There, specialists have debated about situations in different everyday real-life scenarios and how to stay protected from the virus. In addition to radio programmes, similar content in video format is being prepared for broadcast on the Sudanese television channels Bukra and Al-Jazeera Green, with an educational and attractive approach for the public in order to raise awareness.
